Testing and adjustment of transmitters should be done on a dummy load.
The most important adjustment is the audio level. Excess audio will cause over-modulation in all its forms and hence interference to other users of the bands.
An oscilloscope is invaluable for adjustment of an SSB transmitter (see Chapter 10).
