In Fig. 13.2, A and B are known respectively as the

  1. cathode and anode
  2. cathode and barrier
  3. barrier and anode
  4. anode and cathode

The answer is :- 4 ‘A’ is known as the anode, and ‘B’ the cathode. The direction of ‘easy current flow’ is therefore from anode to cathode through the diode.
