Explanation of question 22

A suitable frequency range for a beat frequency oscillator would be the

  1. IF ± 3kHz
  2. IF ± 30kHz
  3. AF ± 3kHz
  4. AF ± 30 kHz

The answer is :- 1The output from the b.f.o. must beat with the intermediate frequency. This beat note (frequency difference) must be within the audio frequency range and is within the range of about 0-3 kHz. The frequency of the b.f.o would normally cover the range of the i.f. ± 3 kHz.
